Bradley Leonard is a conceptual sound artist, musician, and sculptor, currently studying at
the Academy of Fine Arts Munich (AdBK) under Olaf Nicolai. With a foundation in classical
music, Leonard’s work bridges the gap between his musical background and physical forms, utilizing sound as a medium to explore complex philosophical, social, and political themes.
His practice investigates the ways in which authority, control, and power are manifested and
internalized within societal structures, and how these systems influence our perception of
space, time, and identity.

In his sound-based installations, Leonard often creates immersive environments that
challenge the listener’s relationship to both sound and space. Drawing from his classical
music training, he employs unconventional sound manipulation techniques, merging
electronic and acoustic elements to provoke critical engagement with the audience. His work
often explores the tension between the familiar and the alien, incorporating a range of theory
based and audio-based techniques to transform the auditory experience into something
visceral, yet elusive. Through these works, Leonard aims to encourage deeper reflection on
the subtleties of contemporary political and social climates, creating spaces where power
structures are deconstructed and re-examined.

Leonard’s sculptural practice also reflects these concerns, incorporating found objects and
materiality into his installations. The use of rigid, suspended forms and minimalistic design
invites a metaphysical exploration of absence, presence, and time. His
recent projects have focused on themes of migration, bureaucracy, and personal agency.

As a DJ and producer, Leonard works from the same approach. Rather than building sets around genre, he focuses on relationships in structure, texture, and rhythm—moving through jazz, house, trance, and experimental electronics. The goal is not just movement, but attention. The dancefloor becomes another site where sonic language can be stretched and reorganized.

Leonard’s work incorporates sound, sculpture, technology, and performance, offering an
ongoing exploration of how art can serve as a tool for critical engagement and collective
empowerment.
